Every week I'm sending a postcard to my brother. If he replies he gets the point, if he doesn't then I get the point. He knows nothing about it, needless to say this is a game disguised as regular contact.

Week One

Here we go then.

As my brother and I were brought up to be polite and to answer questions and postal correspondence I'm expecting this to be an easy point for him. To highlight that fact, I have used the words EASY and POINT in the text.

I started with some Spanish because we both learned Spanish at secondary school. I'm sure he'll remember that 'hermano' means brother but I'm wondering if he'll take the time to find out that 'oido' means ear. Either way, I'm likely to start all of my postcards with this charming phrase.

I was hoping to get a Flora Day postcard to start the year off but had to settle for an 'Ancient Cornwall' one instead; this should make him feel a little homesick at least.

It might take a week or two before he replies, which means he may have a couple of postcards by this time. He's a busy guy, I realise this. I am still confident of a victory over the course of the year as his interest in my repeated communication wanes, though.

Introduction

I don't keep in contact with my brother nearly as much as I should. He moved to London a few years ago and has a family up there while I have a family in Cornwall. We get on really well when we see each other, although this only seems to be about twice a year at the most.

I could send him Facebook messages or letters but it all seems rather pointless as we're informed of any massive life changes albeit through family. I have decided to disrupt the status quo and send him a postcard every week.

This could be a mundane activity between two brothers but I have decided to add an element of danger. Thus, if he replies to me he will get a point. If he doesn't then I will get a point. Oh yes; edge of the seat stuff. I'll try to keep postcards humourous and would appreciate it if you would subscribe to my blog to see regular updates of who's in the lead. He currently knows nothing about it and I'd like to keep it that way if at all possible.

Thanks for visiting, please keep in touch...
